Straight onto the beach

Walk down the lawn, through the arch at the end of the garden, and you're on East Preston's shingle beach. Swim before breakfast, wander back for coffee.

Stone paths, a lily pond and generous rose beds surround a sheltered lawn that catches the sun all afternoon.

Eating outside

There's a gas barbecue right by the outdoor terrace with sea views, which makes cooking alfresco a beautiful experience — and dine on the terrace as the sun goes down over the water.

Evenings round the firepit

When the light fades, light the fire bowl among the roses and stay out under the stars — with the sound of the waves for company.
